Behind the archive
One person.
Every note.
The players who started it all.
Session Solos was founded and is independently run by John Talman. John researches the credits, transcribes every tab by hand, checks every note against the recorded performance, and publishes every download himself.
Why this exists
Credit the musicians. Get the notes right.
Session Solos began with two convictions: the musicians who inspired John to pick up an instrument deserved to have their work recognized, and guitarists deserved better than inaccurate or carelessly assembled tabs.
That idea grew into more than a transcription archive. The Session Solos channel became a place for John to interview his heroes: guitarists, singers, builders, and other creators whose work across multiple decades shaped his love of music.
Editorial methodology
How every tab is made
There is no anonymous tab farm behind Session Solos. John works through the same hands-on process for every transcription.
- 01
Start with the recording
The released performance is the source. The goal is to capture what was actually played, not a simplified approximation.
- 02
Transcribe every note by hand
Notes, rhythms, bends, articulations, and fretboard positions are worked out manually, phrase by phrase.
- 03
Build and sync in Guitar Pro 8
The complete part is entered in Guitar Pro 8 and aligned with the recorded version so the notation follows the performance in time.
- 04
Replay, compare, revise
John listens over and over, comparing the transcription with the recording and correcting it until every passage matches.
The standard
Accuracy is the point.
The song, recording artist, guitarist, and exact part are identified wherever the information is available. Each finished transcription is published free in PDF, Guitar Pro, or both formats.
No transcription is treated as beyond correction. If something sounds wrong, include the song and the passage or timestamp when you write. John will review it against the recording.
